Our Story

Treats with a purpose. Standards with a story.

Honey's Dog Treats began with a simple question: What can we create that supports Honey, serves other dogs, and helps sustain the mission of The Honey On Duty Project? The answer was something Honey already loved — and something we could build with care, purpose, and integrity.

Honey has always had a sensitive stomach, so Stefan began making dog treats with her needs in mind. We wanted to focus on treats that were simple, thoughtfully selected, and appropriate for a working dog who travels, serves, and shows up in demanding environments. What started as a way to give Honey's supporters a meaningful product to purchase became Honey's Dog Treats: a mission-sustaining line of provisions inspired by Honey's real life and real standards.

Meet the People Behind the Treats

Stefan Walter — Owner, Honey's Dog Treats

Stefan Walter

Owner, Honey's Dog Treats

Founder, The Honey On Duty Project

Stefan began making dog treats because Honey needed a product connected to her mission and because Honey genuinely loved them.

As one of Honey's two 50/50 partners, Stefan helps guide the product vision, business development, and mission behind Honey's Dog Treats. His focus is on creating provisions that are practical, trustworthy, and connected to the needs of real dogs and their families.

The goal was never to create another generic dog treat brand. It was to develop something useful, purposeful, and worthy of the trust people place in the Honey On Duty name. Honey's needs, routines, sensitive stomach, and real-world experiences continue to shape the products we offer.

"Honey's Doctor"

Dr. Brianna R. Horricks is the veterinary lead behind Honey's Dog Treats. She is the Co-Founder of The Honey On Duty Project and the Managing DVM at Ferry Farm Animal Clinic in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

A 2014 graduate of the University of Glasgow and a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, Dr. Horricks' clinical interests include small-animal internal medicine, diagnostic ultrasonography, and oncology. Her work combines evidence-based veterinary medicine with practical, clear communication for the families and animals she serves.

As Honey's veterinarian and as someone who understands the demands placed on service dogs, working dogs, and traveling companions Dr. Horricks helps guide the standards behind our product selection. Her involvement gives Honey's Dog Treats a thoughtful veterinary perspective grounded in responsible use, clear ingredients, digestion, and real-world canine needs.

The Honey Standard

When Stefan and Dr. Brianna choose a product, they ask:

  • Is it made with clear, straightforward ingredients?
  • Is it appropriate for the intended use?
  • Does it reflect the needs of real dogs and real families?
  • Can we explain what it is and why we selected it?
  • Does it meet the standard we would want for Honey?
  • Does it help support the mission behind the brand?

Our goal is not to make the loudest or most complicated dog products. It is to offer provisions that are simple, purposeful, and aligned with Honey's life as a working dog.

More Than a Treat

Honey's Dog Treats gives supporters another way to participate in the mission.

You are not just purchasing a chew. You are helping sustain a rescued dog's life of service, travel, advocacy, and healing. Each purchase helps create a more sustainable path for The Honey On Duty Project — one that allows Honey to continue showing up where comfort and connection are needed.

Fuel the Dog. Fund the Mission.

Our products are selected with care and are not intended to replace individualized veterinary advice. They reflect our shared commitment to simple, transparent provisions that are thoughtfully considered for the dogs and families who use them.
