Honey was surrendered by her first family when she was just a puppy. Her second family gave her up too. Most dogs in that situation end up lost in the shelter system — or worse. Honey found Stefan. And everything changed.
Two Surrenders, One Purpose
Nobody knows exactly why Honey's first two families gave her up. What we know is that she arrived at Stefan's door with a calm, intuitive presence that seemed to know exactly what people needed. She was attentive without being anxious. Gentle without being passive. She had something.
The Training
Stefan began training Honey for therapy work almost immediately. She took to it with a focus and patience that surprised even experienced trainers. Within months she had her certifications — first as a therapy dog, then as a service dog. She was ready.
The First Visit
Honey's first official therapy visit was to a children's hospice. She walked in quietly, found the child who needed her most, and lay down beside them without being asked. The family cried. The staff cried. Stefan knew they were onto something.
The Mission Grows
Since that first visit, Honey has traveled to across the country, visited hundreds of families in hospice care, sat with first responders after critical incidents, shown up at schools, community events, and moments of crisis. She doesn't know she was surrendered twice. She just knows she has a job to do.
How You Help
The Honey On Duty Project is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit that funds every visit Honey makes. Travel, training, gear, logistics — it all costs money. A portion of every bag of Honey's Dog Treats sold goes directly to the project. When you buy treats, you fund the mission.
